Last Tuesday, the 27th, the second edition of the benefit festival honoring Taylor Hawkins . Among the many artists who were part of the line-up was singer Miley Cyrus , who performed with Def Leppard singing "Photograph".
Later, through her social media, Miley shared a snippet of an audio message sent to her by Taylor Hawkins himself, in which the drummer said: “Hey Miley? It’s Taylor. I heard you’re moving. When? I’m listening to ‘Photograph’ by Def Leppard. You’d kill it singing that.”
Taylor Hawkins and Miley Cyrus were neighbors for a time in Los Angeles, which helped build a great friendship between the two. Along with Taylor's audio, Miley posted a clip of her performance with Def Leppard and wrote on social media:
“A special request from the legend himself, Taylor Hawkins. My friend, my idol, my neighbor. Living near Taylor all those years in LA gave me some of the most fun moments of my life. I miss Taylor a lot, like everyone else. I’m lucky to have known him, not just as a superstar, but to have spent time watching him be a husband and a father. Foo Fighters forever.”
Excitement at Lollapalooza Brazil
During her time in Brazil at Lollapalooza , Miley became emotional while performing the day after the drummer's death and dedicated the song "Angels Like You" to her friend.
The singer and the Foo Fighters were on a similar tour schedule in South America. Both were scheduled to perform in Paraguay, but Cyrus had to cancel her appearance after a plane crash in which her plane was struck by lightning. No one was injured, but the entire team was shaken. Shortly after the incident, Taylor was found dead in Bogotá , Colombia, where the Foo Fighters had another festival scheduled.
During her show in São Paulo, Miley commented on what happened and revealed that Taylor Hawkins was the first person she spoke to after the plane crash. The drummer was already at the festival in Paraguay, but Miley couldn't get there in time. "That would have been the last time I saw my friend, but I couldn't," she said through tears. Foo Fighters were scheduled to close out Lollapalooza Brazil 2022 on Sunday night, but their performance has been cancelled.
