Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed that in the late 1990s he almost left the Dave Grohl - to join Guns N' Roses . He had received an offer from Axl Rose .

“At the time, Axl was trying to reform Guns N’ Roses,” Taylor said. “They wanted to know if I would join the band or something like that. It seemed somewhat surreal to me.”

So Hawkins decided to call Roger Taylor of Queen for advice. The fellow drummer shared a similar story that occurred in the early 1970s, when former Mott the Hoople members Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson asked Taylor to join them.

However, the musician chose to remain in Queen: "He couldn't imagine what it would be like to be on stage without Freddie Mercury or Brian May ," Hawkins said.

He continued: “He said, ‘I see you and Dave on stage, and there’s something there that you can’t buy. There’s something between you two that Axl Rose might not have’ – and he was right.”
