This Sunday, the 1st, the Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage at the Jazz Fest in New Orleans to replace their longtime friends, the Foo Fighters .
The Foo Fighters recently canceled their performance at the festival and all remaining tour dates due to the sudden death of their drummer, Taylor Hawkins , who was honored during Jazz Fest by his colleague and fellow drummer, Chad Smith .
In a speech to the audience, Smith declared his love for Hawkins and the Foo Fighters and asked the crowd to join in a chorus of "We love Taylor Hawkins".
According to Chad Smith, the members of the Foo Fighters, as well as Taylor Hawkins' widow, Alison, were present to watch the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert on Sunday. Check out a video of the speech:
