In 25 years, the Foo Fighters have amassed a great discography. However, having played them for so many years, drummer Taylor Hawkins has had plenty of time to consider which are his favorite songs from the group.
It was in an interview with Matt Wilkinson on his Apple Music 1 that Taylor revealed her choices, “I would say without a doubt, it would be 'Aurora'. I just really love that side of Dave [Grohl] yacht rock voice and he doubles his voice really well. And that was the first drum track I did for the Foo Fighters that I was very, very proud of, because I had played half the drums on the Nothing Left To Lose , because it was my first time in the studio and I just… I didn't know how to record. Recording drums and playing live are super different things and mistakes are extremely polarized once you're under the scrutiny of the microphones. You had to get it right.”
He also cites “This Is a Call,” from the band’s 1995 album, as one of his favorites, and recalls hearing the track for the first time. “I was playing with Alanis [Morissette] and we were all in a van, touring the Foo Fighters, playing the same clubs they were in. And it was just funny, and we just wore that record out. And 'This Is a Call' might be my all-time favorite Foo Fighters song too.”
