With 33% of the votes, Tarja Turunen was chosen by WikiBrothers as the most talented woman in Heavy Metal. In second place was Angela Gossow, followed by Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee. Click here to see the results of previous polls.

The Finnish singer began her work in the band Nightwish, which she founded along with musicians Tuomas Holopainen and Emppu Vuorinen in 1996. The band had plans to be acoustic, but after the first recording, everyone decided that Tarja's voice would be too powerful for the instrumental. Nightwish then decided to become a metal band.

In 2005 Tarja left the band and by 2006 she already had her solo career.

Tarja's vocal talent was discovered when she was just three years old, when she sang a song in her hometown church. The vocalist began singing lessons at that age and started learning piano at six.
