System Of A Down raises $600,000 for Armenia and discusses upcoming releases in an exclusive interview; check it out.

“As System Of A Down, this has been an incredible opportunity for us to come together and put everything aside to speak for our nation as one,” says Serj Tankian.

Last Friday, the 6th, System Of A Down surprised the world by releasing new music for the first time in fifteen years. “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” address and draw attention to the conflict devastating Armenia, a country from which the band has ancestry, and they used their platform to raise donations for the affected population.

In a rare interview conducted for the band's channel, the four members of SOAD reunited to talk more about the release and the political context of the war in the country, and their hopes for the unfolding of the serious situation. “The conflict was an injustice that we want people to pay attention to, and that's why we're doing this [releasing the songs]. So that they can, in turn, inform their own government officials, who can then respond appropriately,” says Serj Tankian , who hopes that what happened in 1915, referring to the Armenian Genocide, and what has happened many times in history, will not happen again.

The quartet also reflected on breaking the band's hiatus without music, "As System Of A Down, this has been an incredible occasion for us to come together, and put everything aside to speak for our nation, as one," says Tankian.

Along with the interview, an announcement reveals that the band has managed to raise approximately $600,000 for the people of Artsakh, thanking fans for helping them spread awareness of the situation and assist those affected by the war.
