Donald Trump 's re-election and opposed mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations, wrote in the caption of his post that all these issues "have always been about money."
“And, just like that, COVID will gradually disappear,” the drummer wrote. “This is and always has been about money. COVID was about money, Ukraine is about money. Having resources is what brings wealth, stability, and power. There’s a chess game being played by those in real positions of power, and we like to think we’re the pawns, but in reality, we’re not even on the board.”
One of John Dolmayan's followers argued in the comments that the central issue wasn't money but rather "saving lives," to which the drummer replied: "Do you have any idea how much money Amazon made during COVID? Not to mention the pharmaceutical companies? Of course it's about money."
John Dolmayan is known for his controversial opinions that clash with System of a Down's activism. Despite this, vocalist Serj Tankian has commented that he "wouldn't change" the dynamic between the band and the drummer .
