The last album was in 2005
In an Instagram interview with fans, System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian responded to a fan who asked the band about the progress of their new album. Despite sharing videos from the studio in October, the musician now says he doesn't know when he will release new material
“I know, I’m waiting for the new album too ,” Shavo said. “It’s not happening, I don’t know. I don’t know when it will be. It’s not going to be now.”
Shavo's statement is far less optimistic than drummer John Dolmayan's statement last year, when he said in November that the band already had 15 songs ready for a new album.
System of a Down's last CD, "Mesmerize"/"Hypnotize", was released in 2005.
