Lead singer suffered a heart attack
Survivor's lead singer, Jimi Jamison, was found dead early yesterday morning from an apparent heart attack at his home in Memphis, Tennessee. Jamison died Sunday afternoon and was 63 years old.
Jamison was in the band during three distinct periods: 1984–1988, 2000–2006, and since 2011, recording the albums “Vital Signs,” “When Seconds Count,” and “Too Hot To Sleep.” Jamison was the voice behind classics such as “ The Moment of Truth ,” the theme song from the film “The Karate Kid,” “ Burning Heart ,” from “Rocky IV,” as well as hits like “The Search Is Over” and “Is This Love.” The vocalist replaced Dave Bickler in the band, known for the hit “ Eye of the Tiger .” Jamison also worked with the bands Target and Cobra, in addition to his solo project.
A family representative released the following statement:
"This afternoon, the renowned Survivor vocalist passed away at his home in Memphis, Tennessee. Jimi was a friend to all who knew him. He was a beloved father and grandfather and always valued people more than anything. The family requests privacy during this difficult time."
