Known for being one of the most charismatic artists on the internet, Supla Instagram account to stay in constant contact with fans and answer their questions . Recently, a post that resonated on his profile was his response to rumors that he had formed the band Angra .
According to Supla, he had just signed a contract with the now-defunct EMI and needed a band to record his new album, which was being produced by João Barone of Paralamas do Sucesso . The artist already knew brothers André and Ivan Busic , who in turn knew guitarist Edu Ardanuy , and that's how Supla's band was formed.
The result was the album Encoleirado (1991), which yielded singles such as the title track, “Sai Pra Lá Vudu” and “Break The Ice”, and was well received by critics, but the musicians that Supla had brought together ended up making other plans.
“The Busic brothers decided to form a band, which is Dr. Sin , with Edu Ardanuy,” Supla recounts. “I said, ‘Okay, but I need a band. I have 10 shows [to do] at PlayCenter during the Night of Terror,’ and they helped me put the band together. Then we called Kiko Loureiro , Luis Mariutti , who plays bass, and Confessori on drums. The lineup was perfect.”
According to Supla, the three musicians decided to form Angra soon after that meeting. He admitted he didn't know if they had known each other before, but said he thought not.
