Some say that "Brazilian rock is dead," but the truth is that it endures and finds a loyal audience beyond the major cities and international shows at Allianz Parque. The last day of the 10th edition of the Suíça Bahiana Festival was a beautiful example of this, showcasing resilience, regionality, and a youth willing to enjoy musical genres rarely offered by mainstream media.

Those who attended the Camillo de Jesus Lima Cultural Center on Sunday had the opportunity to enjoy high-performance bands. A highlight was the band Drenna (RJ), which performed in the mid-afternoon and found a still somewhat timid audience, but one that quickly surrendered to the powerful vocals of singer and guitarist Drenna Rodrigues.

Power was also a hallmark of Clube dos Patifes , the band from Feira de Santana (BA) that is a regional reference when it comes to mixing rock with blues and gifted those watching them with songs from their most recent project: Macumba. The presence of the atabaque drum, the saxophone and the scent of lavender introduced the audience to the genre called by the group "Candoblues".

The children of the house brought pride to the scene

With 12 years on the road and a sound born from the union of Hardcore and Baião, the local band Dona Iracema led the first punk mosh pit of the festival. Lyrics addressing complex political issues, combined with the energy and charisma of Balaio, the band's vocalist, formed the perfect combination to make the audience sweat and vibrate to the frequency of "caatincore".

Another band from Vitória da Conquista that set the "Swiss Bahian" venue on fire was Cama de Jornal . And not by chance! The group is veteran and has been bringing punk rock to the Bahian hinterland for over 23 years. The result couldn't have been anything else: while the older generation enthusiastically sang along to every lyric, the younger generation jumped and had fun with the sound they were just discovering. A highlight was the punk circle pit, exclusively for women, started by the band in the middle of the show.

What does Supla have?

The show was a hit! The most anticipated attraction of the day was undoubtedly Supla and Os Punks de Boutique . And all the anticipation was rewarded with a performance that delivered the best of Papito: lots of energy, fun, stage presence, and connection with the audience. Those present felt very close to the singer and enjoyed the last band of the day with the same enthusiasm as those enjoying the first.

During the show, Supla used theatrical tricks to present his newest songs, performed a punk rock version of some famous classics, and even shared the stage with a mysterious little dog that insisted on participating. Ultimately, one message remained: the legend of Brazilian punk rock is very much alive!

The 10th edition of the Suíça Bahiana Festival – Conquering the World was a joint effort between the Municipality of Vitória da Conquista and the Suíça Bahiana Collective. In addition to a diverse lineup, the event featured free admission, two stages, a kids' area, a food court, and an entrepreneurship fair.
