Sunroad has released the new single “Thunderbird Yell”. The unreleased track anticipates the new national tour and gives a taste of the spirit of the upcoming studio album.

The song features not only David Reece (formerly of Accept ), but also other big names such as Rex Carroll (Whitecross ), Andy Robbins ( Holy Soldier ) and Fred Mika .

Sunroad drummer and founder Fred Mika commented: “The inspiration came from the riffs created by Rex Carroll, very much in line with what he does with the band. I just added my style on the drums and wrote the lyrics.” The song addresses the prejudice faced by those who live in an environment where “having” is valued more than “being.” The title refers to the cry of a mythological Native American bird. “It’s the purest manifestation of being,” says Mika.

The main highlight of the recording is the chemistry between the musicians involved. "There were four members who had never worked together on the same project, but who had shared the stage on other occasions. This created a very interesting synergy," comments the drummer.

Bringing this team together wasn't a difficult task. Everyone already had previous ties with Sunroad. Rex Carroll and Andy Robbins are veterans of the Christian hard rock scene since the 1980s and played shows in Brazil with the Goiânia-based group in the 2000s and 2010s. "Rex had already mixed another of my works, Earth Lux. And it was Andy who recommended David Reece for this track," reveals Fred.

With nearly 30 years on the road, Sunroad is preparing for another tour through the capitals of Brazil and a new album of unreleased tracks, featuring collaborations with names like Mark Boals, Edu Ardanuy, and Rex Carroll himself.
