Sum 41 released their newest single last Wednesday, the 27th, and according to the vocalist, Deryck Whibley , the song is "old school pop-punk".

Regarding the song, Whibley said in a statement: “When I wrote 'Landmines', I had no intention of writing an old-school pop-punk song. It came quickly and I knew it was special to me.”

In May, the Canadian band announced their separation after the final shows of their tour, and this is the first single from the band's upcoming final album before they split up. Heaven x Hell will be released by Rise Records , but a release date has not yet been announced.

The band also released a music video for the new song, which can be seen at the end of this article.

Deryck-Whibley pneumonia

Whibley was hospitalized after contracting pneumonia, but has since been discharged and communicated with fans via social media: “I wanted a minute to thank everyone for so much love and support. Although I’m not out of the woods yet from this pneumonia and have been advised to be prepared for some discomfort in the coming weeks, I remain optimistic and doing my best to overcome it all. I’m still in bed, having difficulty breathing, chest pains and crazy dreams because of the fever, which I believe is what’s keeping all this interesting. I’m in the best hands and on the right medication.” Regarding the festival, he wrote: “I plan to be at my best for When We Were Young next month . That’s my goal. Thank you, all the love, Deryck.”
