Reggae is the worst
An Australian study analyzed different musical genres to determine the best type of music for running. The analysis concluded that Pop and Heavy Metal are the best styles, while Reggae and Opera can be detrimental to exercise.
Fitness instructor Leanne Hall commented on the study to the Daily Mail: “Part of it comes down to personal preference. But most of it is determined by the emotions that each type of music evokes. For example, classical music tends to be calming, and the study shows that.”
She continues: “I think the tempo of the music is the most important thing, and it often harmonizes with our own pace. If we listen to something with a slow beat, we run slower. Pop music tends to be faster, as does Heavy Metal.”
