A study published on the Degenerate State by a data scientist identified as Iain listed the most frequent words in Metal songs.

The study ( published here ) subtracted very short words and took into account the most frequently used words in the English language so that the final result would not be influenced. Thus, it created a rate that it named "Metalness".

The analyst used a lyrics website and compiled 222,623 songs from 22,314 albums by 7,364 bands. Check out the list of the 20 most frequent words:

The study also analyzed the complexity of the lyrics, through the number of syllables in the words used, and concluded that Pig Destroyer has the most complex lyrics. Furthermore, it also cited Five Finger Death Punch as having (proportionally) the highest number of swear words.
