Ace Frehley , former guitarist and founding member of KISS , died last Thursday, October 16, at the age of 74.

The exact cause of death has not been revealed, but a statement on the musician's social media , posted this Friday, the 17th, informs that Ace died after a fall in his home studio.

"ATTENTION: Ace Frehley, GRAMMY® Award-nominated and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee rock guitarist and iconic founding member of KISS, died today at age 74. Frehley passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey, following a recent fall at his home.
Frehley lives on through his wife Jeanette , daughter Monique , brother Charles , sister Nancy Salvner, nieces Suncere Frehley and Julie Salvner Sky Frehley and Andrew Salvner , sister law Michelanne , and brother-in-law Ron Salvner . Rest in peace, Spaceman."

Family confirms death of Ace Frehley

The family had confirmed the death through an official statement to the Variety on Thursday evening, the 16th.

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his final moments, we were fortunate to be able to surround him with loving, caring, and peaceful words, thoughts, prayers, and intentions as he left this Earth. We cherish all his best memories, his laughter, and celebrate the strength and kindness he dedicated to others. The magnitude of his departure is of epic and incomprehensible proportions. Reflecting on all his incredible life achievements, Ace's memory will live on forever!”

Rumors about Ace Frehley's death and premature tributes began circulating online on Thursday afternoon, the 16th. According to the TMZ , the guitarist was being kept alive with the help of machines after suffering a fall at home . The accident reportedly resulted in a brain hemorrhage. The portal also reported that the family decided to turn off the machines: "Sources familiar with Ace's situation have told us that he suffered a brain hemorrhage when he fell in his studio a few weeks ago."

Ace Frehley had cancelled all previously announced 2025 tour dates due to unspecified “medical issues” following a recent hospitalization. The musician's announcement came two weeks after he cancelled a performance at the Antelope Valley Fair in California after suffering minor injuries from a fall at home. Ace was also working on his new album, Origins Vol. 4 .
