Stryper released the single "End of Days" on all digital platforms last Tuesday, the 26th. The track's release is accompanied by a lyric video and the announcement of the band's 40th anniversary tour .
In a recent interview, the group described the track as having a classic sound and containing a message for a divided society (via Blabbermouth ): "'End Of Days' is a musically and lyrically heavy track. It has a classic sound with some modern twists along the way."
“Lyrically, it’s probably the most fitting message for the times we’re living in. It really feels like the ‘end of days’ in many ways. We’re not just a divided nation, we’re a divided world. It’s time to fix things.”
In addition to releasing the new song, the band announced the dates for their 40th-anniversary tour, which will celebrate classic hits, as well as featuring costume changes and a captivating show production.
Stryper's 20th LP
With a release date set for September, Michael Sweet , the frontman of Stryper, commented further on the successor to The Final Battle (2022, Frontiers Records) (via Blabbermouth ): “It’s kind of similar to the last album and the album before that. But this album has some different twists. And you have to listen to it to understand that.”
“When I was writing the songs, I wanted to make sure that the choruses would go to a minor chord, a little darker, and the refrains would go to a major chord, lighter. Not lighter, but happier – more important, melodic, more like a hymn, a kind of chant.”
Being responsible for all the lyrical production of the new project, the vocalist also commented on his impressions of the new songs: “There are some twists. There’s a song called ‘Betrayed By Love.’ It’s a dark song, both musically and lyrically. It’s not a cheerful, typical Stryper song that people might expect, like ‘Honestly.’ It’s a song about being betrayed by someone you loved or love. Oh, wow. That’s different. It’s a great song. It’s really cool, but there are little twists with the lyrics and it’s really cool.”
