Strawberry Fields becomes a Beatles tourist attraction for the first time

The place became known because of the song "Strawberry Fields"

Strawberry Fields are the Salvation Army gardens immortalized by The Beatles in "Strawberry Fields Forever." Now, the site is open to the public for the first time.

Opened on September 14th, the gardens are available for public visitation alongside a visitor center, café, and shop. There will also be a new interactive exhibit about John Lennon and the Beatles .

The place was a house John Lennon visited as a child and considered a "sanctuary." So far, 60,000 fans have visited the site, but have only been able to see the red gates from the outside.

Speaking to the BBC, Lennon's sister, Julia Baird , said that he used to jump over the walls of his special place.

“When you’re a child, there’s always a place that’s a little bit yours, a little bit special.” Of the new project, Baird added: “I think he would love it.”.
