Stranger Things  released a trailer for its highly anticipated 5th season and, once again, the Netflix series made a lot of noise on the internet. This time, the series brings new popularity to a song by one of the greatest classic rock bands.

The soundtrack for the final season of Stranger Things features a revamped version of "Child in Time" by Deep Purple . The track originally appeared on the band's fourth album, Deep Purple in Rock, from 1970.

Set in 1987, the fifth and final season of the series promises "all sorts of supernatural mayhem as the residents of Hawkins wage their final war against Vecna and the various monsters lurking within the Upside Down," according to the synopsis [via Loudwire ]. "They must also confront the United States government, which has placed Hawkins under military quarantine while frantically hunting Eleven, forcing her into hiding once again."

'Stranger Things' and the return of rock and metal classics

This is far from the first time Stranger Things has featured a rock or metal classic. The series is responsible for reviving great classics, such as Metallica , which played a key role in the season 4 finale . The inclusion caused streams of the song to skyrocket, and "Master of Puppets" now has over 1 million plays on Spotify.

Another highlight was the hit “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush , used in the fourth episode of Volume 1 of that season. Also in the same season, a remixed version of Journey headlined the soundtrack.

The series' soundtrack also features The Police, Clash, Duran Duran, Toto, Bon Jovi, Peter Gabriel, and Kiss .
