Corey Taylor Stone Sour's hiatus during an interview with Eddie Trunk .

Stone Sour is the band that Corey Taylor formed in the 90s before becoming the vocalist for Slipknot . The group has six studio albums, the most recent being Hydrograd , from 2017. In 2020, it became clearer that the band would be going on hiatus – the same year that Corey Taylor released his first solo album.

When asked about the break from working with Stone Sour, the vocalist replied that he is prioritizing his solo work and mentioned the discomfort caused by the "drama" between some members (transcription via Blabbermouth ).

“I feel like I’ve done my share of doing things in a band setting. The reason I’m still in Slipknot is because, for me, that’s where it all started,” the singer revealed. “But there’s still a lot of drama and problems [between the members] in Stone Sour. That’s not something I want to do. And the songs I want to play are the ones I wrote.”

“I prefer to join a group of guys I’ve known forever and have fun playing our music and seeing the audience enjoying themselves because they’re seeing a bunch of guys having a good time, rather than trying to force issues that nobody in an audience wants to be a part of,” he concluded.

Taylor also commented that he has reached an age where he "refuses to spend time with people he doesn't like being around," emphasizing that his biggest problem with Stone Sour is the relationship between the members.

Slipknot and 'The End, So Far'

Some more observant fans may connect Corey Taylor's comment about focusing on his solo career with some rumors about a possible end to Slipknot that surfaced when the band announced their new album, The End, So Far .

The album title, as well as a suspicious teaser released by the band, raised concerns about a possible breakup, but Corey Taylor has already denied the possibility .

"For those apocalyptic sons of bitches who think Slipknot is going to break up, that's not the case. This simply represents the end of one moment and the beginning of the rest of our lives," he assured.

The album The End, So Far arrives on September 30th.
