The musician will join Stone Sour at the end of this month.
In January of this year, Josh Rand, guitarist for Stone Sour, was removed from the tour promoting the album Hydrograd to begin intensive treatment.
At the time, the reason for his hospitalization was not revealed, but now the musician has released a statement explaining that his absence was due to an "alcohol and Xanax addiction."
In the statement he says: “I needed to step away from Stone Sour’s Canadian tour because I found myself in a very difficult personal moment and needed to take care of myself.”
“My anxiety and desire to feel comfortable in my own skin led me to a dependence on alcohol and Xanax. This, along with my problems with aggression, made me feel miserable, and I couldn't live like that anymore. With the support of my band, family, and friends, I was able to come home and ask for help.”
Rand also says that after three months of treatment he is in good physical and mental condition, but "it's a process ." Concluding his statement, he thanked his fans and friends for their attention and concern. "It meant a lot to me."
The guitarist is set to join Corey Taylor, Roy Mayorga, Johny Chow, and Christian Martucci for their performance at Welcome To Rockville on April 27th. Following the festival, Stone Sour will continue with dates in North America and Europe.
