Stone Sour releases demo version of “Idle Hands”; listen

The “Idle Hands” demo is from 2002

Stone Sour continues to release unreleased songs and versions from the band's history. Now, it's the turn of "Idle Hands," with the original demo. The track was first recorded in 2002.

In a statement accompanying the demo's release, guitarist Josh Rand wrote: “In 1995 I was discouraged by the direction the music industry was taking. I decided to stop playing guitar and pursue other interests (arena American football) in the following years.”

“So, in 1998, I badly destroyed my ankle, consequently I had surgery and couldn’t walk for 4 years. That put an end to my athletic dreams,” he said. “I started playing guitar again. Which brings us to the next song, ‘Idle Hands,’ the first song I wrote when I picked up the guitar again. Recorded in 2000 for the Project X , and later became known as Corey [Taylor] .”
