Sting , former bassist and vocalist of The Police , has been sued by his former bandmates. Drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers allege they did not receive royalties and songwriting credits for the group's biggest hit, " Every Breath You Take ".

According to the British tabloid Daily Mail , the bassist earns 550,000 euros (approximately R$4 million) per year in royalties from the track. However, Summers and Copeland claim they have not received any payment for the song's rights. The musicians also allege that they were not credited for co-writing the track. [ via g1 ]

The lawsuit was filed in the High Court of Justice in London. In addition to Sting – whose birth name is Matthew Gordon SumnerMagnetic Publishing Limited , the company owned by the former Police member and responsible for the song's rights, is also involved in the lawsuit.

Contacted for comment, neither party responded. A representative for Sting denied to The Sun that the lawsuit was related to the song and offered no further comment on the proceedings.
