Steven Wilson returned to Brazil after his last visit in 2018. The English musician, composer, producer, and sound engineer, best known as the leader of the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree , presented The Overview Tour last Friday, the 17th, at Tokio Marine Hall in São Paulo.
Nominated for his 6th Grammy Awards, Steven Wilson released the album The Overview in March 2025, featuring only two long tracks. “Objects Outlive Us” and “The Overview” explore the “overview effect” – the cognitive shift that astronauts report when viewing Earth from space.
For those familiar with Steve, they already knew what to expect from the artist – whose sound is sometimes considered boring by those who aren't fans of deeper progressive rock. Steven delivered an ambitious performance, mixing his progressive rock with electronic soundscapes, in an audiovisual immersion accompanied by cosmic themes – very much in the nerdy style, which was a large part of his audience that night.
In the first part, he played The Overview in its entirety . Then, he completed his setlist with classics from his solo career and two songs from Porcupine Tree, “Voyage 34 (Phase I)” and “Dislocated Day”.
His last show in Brazil, in May 2018, took place at Carioca Club, a much smaller venue. And to our great surprise, Tokio Marine Hall was almost full, proving that the artist has built a solid fan base.
The highly engaged audience, which appreciates the sound and atmosphere, was able to experience the show without the typical agitation of rock concerts. Attention is needed to embark on this journey.
Our photographer Jéssica Marinho was also at the show and captured the evening. Check out our exclusive photo gallery below.
