Steven Tyler , lead singer of Aerosmith, helped build a shelter that houses girls who are victims of sexual and psychological abuse. He donated approximately R$2.1 million to the Youth Villages organization.

The money came from Tyler's foundation, Janie's Fund, a philanthropic initiative. The shelter was built in Memphis, in the United States, and is already operational.

The facility is designed to help women and children with trauma resulting from abuse, whether mental, behavioral, and/or emotional problems. It accommodates 14 girls at a time, and at the institution they have access to therapy, as well as professional legal assistance in an attempt to overcome the trauma.

Tyler aims to raise awareness about this issue through Janie's Fund, in addition to providing financial support: "ensuring that girls receive all the help they need to overcome the trauma and pain they carry because of any form of abuse," writes the foundation's website.

"This is good for my heart and soul," Tyler told a local news outlet.
