Steve Vai releases new single “Zeus In Chains” and tells an unusual story about the title.

The guitarist said he asked the track what its name was and received an answer.

This Thursday, the 13th, Steve Vai released the single “Zeus In Chains”. The track is part of his new studio album, Inviolate , which will be released on physical CD and digital platforms on January 28th.

According to Blabbermouth , Vai chose the title for his new song in a rather unusual way: he asked her around. And apparently, he got an answer.

“The title of this track, 'Zeus In Chains,' was given to me by the track itself when I was listening to it and asked, 'What's your name?'” the guitarist recounts. “That happened during the breakdown with the dissonant high note just before the solo. It sounded like Zeus in chains.”

Steve Vai even used humor to justify the story, which might seem a bit bizarre. "Hey, it's art. You can invent whatever you want and it's legitimate," he said.

According to Vai, the album Inviolate is "very much me," explaining that it's a "very honest" work, lacking the concepts and stories found in previous albums. "These are nine dense, entirely instrumental compositions that I wanted to capture and record so I could go out and play them live for people," he details.
