The Offspring's last album was released in 2012.
Acclaimed guitarist Steve Vai spoke in an interview with Eric Blair about the possible new AC/DC album, featuring Axl Rose as vocalist: “I think it will be fantastic. Don’t you think? I mean, AC/DC can’t make mistakes, they’re perfect. [laughs] And Axl is a great frontman, and he’s also an incredible singer.”
Angus Young, the only remaining member of the band's original lineup, has yet to confirm a new album. Doubts about whether AC/DC would continue arose during a turbulent period for the band, with the death of Malcolm Young, the forced retirement of vocalist Brian Johnson, and the departures of drummer Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams.
Brian Johnson had to leave the band due to hearing problems during the Rock Or Bust tour, and was replaced by Axl Rose, vocalist of Guns N' Roses.
