Janine's cancer diagnosis , guitarist Steve Morse announced he will be taking a temporary hiatus from Deep Purple to be with his family during this difficult time.

It is not yet clear what type of cancer Janine is battling, but Morse reassured fans in a statement, saying that she is not leaving the band and plans to resume touring as soon as things improve.

“At this point, there are so many possible and unknown complications that I need to be with her for however long we have in our lives,” Steve wrote. “However, I don’t see myself doing international tours in the near future. A top-quality guitarist is ready to take over the live shows and I think everyone will be happy when they find out. I appreciate all the heartfelt prayers for Janine and to all of you.”

In a statement released by Deep Purple themselves, the band announced that Steve Morse's replacement will be Simon McBride , who has previously worked with Ian Gillan and Don Airey . Check out the full statement:
