Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris has declared his love for one of Nightwish . In an interview with Metal Hammer , the bassist recounted his experience discovering the record and how much he likes the Finnish band:
“When I listened to Dark Passion Play , I couldn’t believe it. I thought, ‘This is a great album.’ It has everything a record should have. It generated a lot of controversy at the time because the vocalist, Anette Olzon , had just joined the band, but she was brilliant.”
Harris continues: “No disrespect to Tarja , but Anette’s voice was a perfect fit. She sings heavy, classical parts, even a bit of Disney- – it has everything. I think it’s one of the best-sounding albums I’ve ever heard.”
Steve Harris adds:
Imaginaerum ’s next album . 'Storytime' is a song that I thought was fantastic right away. It took me a while to get into the rest of the album. Dark Passion Play was so good that I thought they’d never be able to release another album even close to it, but the more I listened to Imaginaerum , the more I enjoyed it.”
