He believes that other nominations would have been more deserving of winning the award
Steve Harris , bassist for Iron Maiden , told the Miami New Times that he believes he didn't deserve the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the song "El Dorado." According to him, the other nominations were more deserving, such as "Blood Brothers," "Fear of the Dark," and "The Wicker Man."
"To be honest with you, I think we ended up competing with a song that wasn't one of our best, in my opinion. I don't think we really deserved the award for it, but maybe for another one," he said.
That year, “El Dorado” competed against Korn Lamb of God’s “In Your Words,” Megadeth ’s “Sudden Death,” Slayer ’s “World Painted Blood .” “When we started, we weren’t even thinking about being a global band. We just became that. That wasn’t the goal to begin with. You just try different things, and here we are,” the bassist stated.
