Steve Vai was a guitar stunt double in the Foo Fighters horror movie.

Guitarist recorded scenes of Dave Grohl's hands in 'Studio 666'

Legendary guitarist Steve Vai appeared in the Foo Fighters ' horror comedy Studio 666 as a sort of guitar double for Dave Grohl .

The musician attended the film's premiere last Thursday, the 17th, and commented on how much he enjoyed the film, in which he participated without appearing on the big screen. "The film is simply exceptional, bloody and funny. Our favorite Foos are cast in a haunted house where Dave gets possessed and starts doing strange things," he shared on social media.

Vai was invited because Grohl doesn't do the shred technique on the guitar, so he needed someone to film the hands in some scenes. "I live a three-minute walk from where they were filming, so Dave called me and asked if they could record my hands and shredding for the scene," he continued.

In Steve Vai's words, the performance was a "glorious explosion of demonic shredding pleasure," and seeing those scenes in the cinema brought many laughs to the veteran. "The Foos made a fantastic movie," he said.

The movie Studio 666 opens in US theaters on February 25th. There is no release date yet for the film in Brazilian theaters. Watch the trailer here .
