Guitarist Frankie Sullivan confirmed the death of his bandmate Stephan Ellis
Stephan Ellis , former bassist for Survivor , has been confirmed dead.
The information was released by guitarist Frankie Sullivan on the band's Facebook page. In a statement, he said: "We are devastated to hear that Stephan Ellis has died."
Stephan was the kind of guy who was only interested in music. He had a special charm with the fans and with the band. I loved him very much.
What I remember most clearly about him was the day we made 'Keep It Right Here'. The bass parts and the intro lines just came together in the mix. It was the bass that inspired me to play my guitar better…
Steph's calm demeanor was what helped the most. He was always a guy with a lot of stories that I wouldn't tell. But I learned a lot from him.
That was Stephan Ellis to me: underrated, but never dated. Well-dressed and consistent. He was always ready. He lived life his way and on his own terms
Ellis joined Survivor after Dennis Keith Johnson in 1981. He appeared on the band's second album, Premonition , that same year. He then participated in four more albums: Eye Of The Tiger, Caught In The Game, Vital Signs , and When Seconds Count . He also played bass on the track "Burnin' Heart" from Rocky IV .
