Wayne Static, frontman of the industrial metal band Static X, was announced dead this weekend. Wayne Richard Wells, 48, had several shows scheduled for the coming months.

The cause of death has not yet been released, but an agent for Wayne stated that the vocalist and guitarist had quit hard drugs in 2009 and that the death was not due to substance abuse.

Several rock stars have expressed their condolences on social media following Wayne's death:
