After releasing a Metallica cover, St. Vincent states that he wants to make a metal album

The singer was one of the guests invited to participate in the reinterpretations for the re-release of 'The Black Album'

Pop and indie rock singer St. Vincent recently expressed her desire to make a metal album.

The artist recently covered Metallica Sad But True " and Nine Inch Nails ( the latter in 2020 with Dave Grohl ) and was asked in an interview with NME if this made her want to work on a metal album. "Yes, it does – because I'm angry again!" St. Vincent replied. "I want to make that record. There's a time for everything. There's a time for comfort and a time for 'f*ck it!'"

The singer's version of "Sad But True" is part of special project that brings together more than 53 artists in reinterpretations of songs from The Black Album , which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021. In the same interview, St. Vincent spoke about her personal relationship with the band and with Nine Inch Nails' music:

“For me, Metallica is kind of a nostalgic love. I played bass in a metal band when I was 13 and I always wanted to be the guitarist! Bass was the only role nobody wanted. [Bass players] have a very specific type of personality. If you need a friend, then a bass player is always right. You can't really count on drummers and lead guitarists, but it's in a bassist's personality to be super supportive and bring everyone together. Anyway, we played these songs at the elementary school talent show. It was fun to delve deeper. You think you know a song and then you learn to play it and it's so interesting. I discovered that with 'Piggy'.”
