A study on Spotify genres and fans showed that the musical style with the most loyal fans worldwide is Metal. Pop comes in second, followed by Folk, Country, and Rock.
Spotify also published the study broken down by country. In Brazil, the genre with the most loyal fans is Brazilian Punk, followed by Gaucho Rock and Brazilian Pop. Heavy Metal comes in fourth place.
To arrive at the result, Spotify divided the number of streams that the biggest artists in each genre have by the number of listeners. In the case of Metal, the top artists were Metallica, Judas Priest, Sepultura, Pantera, Cradle Of Filth, and Anthrax.
