Being the first original single since The Second Big Bang , released in 2017, the track was produced by Heleno Vale , Soulspell and Tito Falaschi , while the mixing/mastering was done by Matias Kupiainen ( Stratovarius ).
The next album, still untitled, will continue the project spearheaded by drummer and composer Heleno Vale , which has already featured artists such as Andre Matos, Amanda Somerville, Arjen Lucassen, Fábio Lione , and others.
Set against a dark backdrop, "Castle of Illusions" tells the story of Judith, played by Daísa Munhoz ( Vandroya ), who arrives at a haunted mansion and encounters the mysterious butler Elliot, played by Airton Araujo ( Age of Artemis ).
Intrigued, the king of ghosts, Adze, played by Kleber Ramalho ( Perc3ption ), seeks to take the girl to make her his queen, provoking outrage among the residents and ghost followers.
Featuring Victor Emeka and Fábio Caldeira ( Maestrick ), the track is marked by an engaging storyline, a captivating melody, and a breathtaking ending, which, while maintaining the essence of the metal opera project, did not fail to bring the originality that paved the way for great anticipation for the next album.
What to expect from the new phase
Known for their concept albums, fantastical storylines, and guest appearances by big names in metal, Souspell has gone through several phases, but assures that their next album will mark the beginning of a new era.
In an interview with TRM Press , Heleno Vale commented: “I finally managed to put together a single band for both live performances and studio recordings. All the tribute recordings we've done with the same team in recent years have given us the necessary synergy to record something truly unique. Now, more than ever, we are a cohesive team.”
The new track also introduced new members to the project: keyboardist Marcos Medina, vocalists Kleber Ramalho and Airton Araújo, and bassist Daniel Guirado .
Promising to be the most organic and cohesive album, Heleno assures that each member's contribution was unique.
The project's first album, A Legacy of Honor , released in 2008, was a hit in Brazil and Japan, featuring collaborations with big names in the music scene, such as Edu Falaschi and Roland Grapow . Subsequently, the project consolidated itself with the albums The Labyrinth of Truths (2010) and Hollow's Gathering (2012).
In 2017, Soulspell released their fourth album, The Second Big Bang , featuring names like Timo Kotipelto and Blaze Bayley . Beyond albums, the opera metal band has produced several memorable tributes, performing classic songs from bands like Sonata Arctica , Helloween , and Iron Maiden , reaching millions of views and gathering fans in various states and countries.
