Soulfly released a music video for "Favela/Dystopia" on Tuesday, the 14th, a track from their most recent album, Chama, which features Zyon Cavalera on drums.
Directed by Matt Creeptoon, the video offers a raw and direct portrayal of life in Brazilian favelas, perfectly capturing the harsh reality behind "Favela/Dystopia".
Vocalist and guitarist Max Cavalera commented: “It’s like 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' meets 'City of God'! This video shows the struggles of Brazilians living in the favelas, combined with the Thrash Metal side of the album Chama. Incredible animation by Matt Creeptoon!”
"Chama" is yet another impressive testament to the natural ability of Brazilian composer Max Cavalera to create heavy yet rhythmic riffs, a sound that has made his musical signature recognized worldwide.
"It's a Brazilian word that means flame, fire. But it can also mean a 'calling'. I have a lot of respect for Alex Pereira, who used 'Itsari' as his entrance music in the UFC. 'Chama' was inspired by that energy of the moment. This album is the sound of SOULFLY's fire! I can't wait to play these songs live for the Tribe! Chama!", revealed Max Cavalera.
