At a recent show, Soulfly entertained the audience with the unreleased song "Filth Upon Filth," which is part of the band's upcoming studio album. The track was performed with the new lineup, with Dino Cazares replacing Marc Rizzo on stage.

In a recent interview ( via Blabbermouth ), Max Cavalera revealed that the new Soulfly album isn't expected to be released "until next year" and commented on the possible existence of a concept that permeates the album's lyrics. "Some [songs] talk about the spiritual world and things like that, which is pretty cool. It's always been a theme Soulfly has explored, in a way. There's a song called 'Spirit Animal' that's really cool and [the album] will have some guest appearances," Max said.

The founder of Soulfly clarified, however, that the project will not be a thematic album "like Sepultura 's Roots but rather a "mixture of themes," mentioning the existence of a track called "The Damage Done" which talks about the environment and the destruction of natural resources.

Soulfly's new song is released after a pause in the war of words between Max Cavalera and Marc Rizzo regarding the guitarist's departure from the band. Watch footage from the show:
