Soulfly has Marc Rizzo 's departure in August 2021.
Mike DeLeon will be the new guitarist for Max and Zyon Cavalera's , Mike Leon . The guitarist was part of Philip Anselmo & The Illegals , which he joined in 2015 to replace Marzi Montazeri. DeLeon also filled in for Zakk Wylde Pantera tribute reunion .
In an interview at the time , Rizzo commented that, prevented from performing shows, the pandemic period brought a new perspective, as he needed to work on home renovations to support himself.
“It was basically a matter of survival. I did what I had to do. And a lot of musicians – some people managed, some people took out these loans and made money. Others didn’t,” he said in an interview with the website Sofa King Cool (via Blabbermouth ). “And then there were people like me, who were basically hired guns, who were treated that way throughout this whole pandemic. We had to fend for ourselves.”
Soulfly will embark on a nearly 60-show tour across the United States . Death metal band Bodybox will open for all shows. The tour begins in late January and features Half Heard Voices until early February. Skinflint takes over until early March, with Drift finishing in April.
