Last Friday, the 8th, Soulfly released their new single “Filth Upon Filth,” which showcases more of their thrash metal roots. Fans had already heard the track in September when the band performed it live for the first time. The song arrives along with an animated music video by Costin Chioreanu.
According to Max Cavalera , "Filth Upon Filth" is a song "made by a headbanger for other headbangers." The single is the third to be released as part of the album Totem , which arrives on August 5th.
Totem is Soulfly's 12th studio album and was produced by Max Cavalera and Arthur Rizk , with guest appearances by John Powers , Chris Ulsh , and John Tardy . “ Totem is a celebration of the spirit of nature,” comments Cavalera. “It was a two-year journey writing with Zyon [his son and Soulfly drummer]. This album is about all the joy, fun, and fury in Metal.”
