Sons Of Apollo has released a new music video for their single “Desolate July,” a tribute to musician David Z , who passed away in 2017.

The band features Mike Portnoy, Derek Sherinian, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Billy Sheehan, and Jeff Scott Soto .

“Desolate July” is part of the second studio album MMXX (pronounced 20/20), with a release date of January 17th.

Soto spoke about the track: “From the few seconds I heard this song, I was guided to write the lyrics about my great friend and colleague David Z. David was one of the best, funniest, and most caring human beings I’ve ever known. He was friends with almost all of us in Sons Of Apollo, but Mike and I were certainly the closest. I thought it was fitting to include an incredible and haunting tribute song to him.”

Portno added: “This video is a great tribute to our dear friend David Z. Jeff and I were particularly close to him and I was honored that Jeff invited me to sing the chorus with him. For both of us to share the love for our friend who was tragically taken from us far too soon.”
