Festival celebrates 40 years of Rock in the city

Iron Maiden and Metallica were announced today as the headliners for the 2014 Sonisphere festival. The event marks 40 years of rock in the town of Knebsworth, England, which has hosted major festivals since 1974.

Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson expressed the importance of playing at the event's anniversary: ​​“It may sound cliché, but it’s an honor and a privilege to play in a place where legendary bands have played before .” The Sonisphere show will be the last of the Maiden England Tour, in which the band played 102 shows in 32 countries for more than 2 million fans.
