Sonata Arctica fans in Latin America will have to wait a little longer to finally see the Finnish band live, as the 25th Anniversary Tour COVID-19 cases among band members.
Announced in 2020, the tour was scheduled to begin on March 31 of this year, with stops in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico until the end of April, but it has been postponed again due to positive tests for the disease within the band, a situation that prevents any type of international travel. Previously, the group had already canceled meet and greet packages to minimize risks.
“Despite being as careful as possible, we are now in a situation where several members of the tour have unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19. We spent time together rehearsing and that's how transmission occurred between us. Unfortunately, because of this, we will not be able to fly next week and start our newest tour of Latin America,” Sonata Arctica said in a statement. “This is a truly awful situation and we are devastated, but we hope you understand, support our promoters and keep your tickets until we can meet again.”.
The tour has been postponed by exactly one year, with the new dates confirmed for March and April 2023. All tickets already purchased will be valid for the rescheduled dates and do not need to be exchanged.
In Brazil, the band will be performing in Limeira, São Paulo , and Rio de Janeiro on March 17th, 18th, and 19th, respectively. See the new dates below.
