Sandy made a surprising revelation when she said that her son Theo , who is about to turn 9, is a big fan of rock music and especially of System of a Down .
In an interview with Radio Banda B , the singer spoke about her son's musical taste and admitted that she herself likes rock a lot, but prefers "a more melodic rock".
“My son is a big rocker and he’s in a System of a Down phase,” she says. “And it’s kind of heavy, isn’t it? I’m like, ‘Oh my God, he has no idea what he’s listening to.’ Luckily he doesn’t speak English yet because it’s not very appropriate for a child. There are songs that I say, ‘Son, it’s better if you don’t listen to them.’”
Despite the surprise at Theo's new favorite artist, Sandy quickly said that she "loves" rock and always listens to the music her son plays, although she doesn't have a preference for heavier sounds.
“I’m a bit more lighthearted ,” he admits. “I really like more melodic rock. I really like older rock, the rock 'n' roll of the Beatles , for example. I like Evanescence , Alanis Morissette … I like a lot of things.”
Theo was also once a small fan of Sepultura.
In 2016, Sandy also revealed that her son Theo was a fan of Sepultura . At the time, he was about 2 years old.
Theo's familiarity with Sepultura was no accident. The late Patricia Kisser , wife of Andreas Kisser , was the child's godmother, and Andreas was called "dindão" (big godfather) by Theo and his family.
“He kept asking to see his godfather’s participation on Lucas [ Lima ]’s DVD, from Família Lima ,” Sandy recounts. “He loved seeing that song and he kept asking, asking, and asking. Then one day Lucas was kind of fed up and said, ‘Oh yeah, Theo? I’m going to put on one of his godfather’s songs for you to see.’ So he put on ‘Territory’ by Sepultura thinking Theo would get scared, would cry. And he loved it.”
