Soilwork's new album does not yet have a release date
Soilwork studio with producer Thomas 'Plec' Johansson since April, recording their eleventh studio album. The album will be the first with drummer Bastian Thusgaard , who replaced Dirk Verbeuren , who was in the band from 2004 to 2016, when he joined Megadeth .
The band, which had never officially announced the departure of bassist Markus Wibom , confirmed that the new bassist is Taylor Nordberg , from The Absence . Nordberg has been with the band since 2017, when Markus Wibom had to step away due to other commitments. Wibom joined the band in 2015, replacing Ola Flink .
Vocalist Björn 'Speed' Strid spoke about the new album:
“On this new album, we return to the basics of classic heavy metal, but with a touch of our own legacy, with melancholic melodies in a sometimes furious rhythm and great diversity. People will recognize the vibe we had on the last two albums, but we feel we've taken our sound even further, with more energy, darker elements, but still strangely invigorating.”.
The recording sessions for this album were unlike anything we've ever done before. Everyone is very involved in the whole process and we allowed ourselves to experiment more and take more chances sonically. Our drummer Bastian Thusgaard, who hasn't recorded with us before, brought another dimension to our sound, and he made the rest of us step up our game as well. And working with producer Thomas Plec Johansson (The Panic Room) was a real pleasure. Although we've been through a lot in the last few years, we feel more like a unit than we have in a long time.
We, as a band, are far from exhausting our creative and musical abilities and want to bring Soilwork back to the masses. Our fans around the world can expect that promise to be fulfilled when our tour cycle begins in promotion of our upcoming album.”.
