Sodom released their new single “Taphephobia” this Wednesday, June 4th, along with a lyric video. The track is part of their new album, The Arsonist , which will be released on June 27th by the label SPV / Steamhammer .
Vocalist and bassist Tom Angelripper commented: “Taphephobia is an abnormal phobia of being buried alive after being incorrectly declared dead. Drummer Toni Merkel, who is also an excellent guitarist, contributed to this song and helped make the album even more versatile.”
The band, currently consisting of Tom Angelripper (vocals and bass), Frank Blackfire (guitar), Yorcz Segatz (guitar) and Toni Merkel (drums), decided to create a work with the most natural production possible, without studio tricks or digital overdubs.
Tom Angelripper commented on the new record: “No plastic! The difference in sound compared to today's standard drum productions is impressive and had a positive effect on all instruments. Naturally, time, effort and costs were also higher, but we are happy to shell out for a superior result.”
