The band Asfixia Social will be showcasing their heavy rock, full of influences from Brazilian music and rap, on the Showlivre stage this Thursday, the 26th. Originating from the outskirts of São Paulo, the group continued producing even amidst all the crises caused by the pandemic.
This year, the group released the single "No Censorship 2021 ," a song that directly references the authoritarian misrule that plagues us. "Our revolt is against a government that has been destroying the lives of millions of people, attacking culture and those who denounce the genocide of more than 570,000 people in Brazil since the beginning of the pandemic... and we continue counting...", says the band's vocalist, Kaneda .
Due to the pandemic, their participation in live streams and festivals replaced trips around Brazil – and even took their music further afield, as was the case with their presence at the 2020 digital version of the Rebellion Festival (UK) and the performances held at the Da Rua Pra Rua Festival and Hip Hop Month in 2021.
The band will perform today, the 26th, at 6 PM on Showlivre's YouTube channel – link below.
Asfixia Social consists of Kaneda Mukhtar (vocals, trumpet and trombone), Rafael Santos (guitar and vocals), Leonardo Oliveira (bass and vocals), Marcelo Sampaio (guitar and vocals) and Rodrigo Silva (drums).
