Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen Black Light / White Noise this Friday, the 4th .
Recorded at The House studio in Los Angeles and produced by Richie and Adrian with mixing by Jay Ruston , the ten-track album is a true lesson in modern rock, showcasing the duo's prodigious talents as songwriters, musicians, and vocalists.
“We had a lot of fun doing this,” says Adrian. “We were composing, and I wanted something inspired by my classic hard rock or blues bands, and then that evolved into something more progressive. Richie brings strong soul influences, which adds a lot of layers.”
“Smith/Kotzen is about finding common ground,” Richie adds. “Maybe Adrian tends to go for the heavier side, and I lean more towards fusion, funk or soul, but our sound is somewhere in the middle: that heavy blues rock vibe that we really connect with.”
Black Light / White Noise is a collection of songs that stands out among the duo's best work to date. The album evokes legendary bands and musicians ( Thin Lizzy , Jimi Hendrix , Prince , Cream , Free , Deep Purple ), but is unmistakably the result of the perfect harmony between Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen.
