Billy Corgan , lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins , spoke about the new studio album, which is expected to be released in 2020.
The successor to Shiny And Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun. will feature the original lineup and guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
“When we got back with James , we called Rick Rubin and we did eight songs. It was released as a formal album, but I said at the time – and I meant it – in my eyes, it wasn’t an album. We didn’t treat it like we treat all the albums we’ve ever made, which is more like making a film,” said Corgan.
“In many ways, this is the first album [since the reunion] where we sat down and made a classic ‘throw everything at the wall and see what happens’ style Pumpkins album. I’ve been working on it for a year. For now it has 21 songs and we’re going to release it as a double album this year.”
"It has a very strong conceptual foundation. I'm very excited about it because we're kind of back on the path of taking risks and trying to bring something new, instead of doing what we're known for doing."
