Slothrust , a rock band formed in Boston, USA, released the single "The Next Curse," a cry about humanity's inaction on climate change, in partnership with Lzzy Hale , vocalist of Halestorm .
The song begins as a quiet, minimalist ballad, delicately guided by Leah Wellbaum , but soon transforms with the arrival of guitars and Hale's powerful vocals, bringing the urgency of the theme to the sound. "The world's gonna catch fire / But I'll keep waiting anyway," the lyrics say.
“It’s about fires, floods, chaos, and human conflict. I hope it inspires compassion for you, for each other, and for our beautiful planet Earth,” Wellbaum explained on social media. “This song is particularly special to me because it features one of my all-time favorite vocalists – my friend who’s always on fire, Lzzy Hale.”.
Three years after The Pact (2018), “The Next Curse” is part of Slothrust's fifth studio album Parallel Timeline , which will be released on September 10th by Dangerbird Records. See cover art and tracklist below.
